IMO I am not going to buy one as my newest console is the Xbox 360. Something of interest is how the dimensions don’t conform to prior consoles. I wonder whether it can be placed on its side, like the 360 (Unlike the Xbox One) to fit into standard television cabinets.
December 21, 2019 at 11:42 pm #16510Even on its side, at 16 cm it will not fit all cabinets. Weird design. I’m really curious what the PS5 will look like, I hope they won’t be too tempted to compete with the Xbox in terms of design innovation.
December 28, 2019 at 1:23 pm #16694Yeah, the Xbox is pretty different looking. Bit of an Xbox Monolith or Xbox Oblong TM. I kinda like it, but agree it’s an impractical shape for most TV set-ups.
Hopefully the PS5 looks better than its leaked debug console monstrosity…
December 29, 2019 at 3:48 pm #16781Honestly, I don’t think the design is horrible or even bad. The stronger tech inside requires more space and more cooling so the design makes sense. On the topic of cooling the design (cooling wise) is a masterpiece the top sucks air in bringing it over every component then exhausts it out the bottom.
December 29, 2019 at 3:52 pm #16782Anyway, if it’s too big you can always get an ITX PC and join the PC Master Race! PCMR PCMR PCMR PCMR PCMR PCMR PCMR!
December 30, 2019 at 12:04 am #16815My eye starts twitching when I look at the debug model PS5. I’d take the Xbox “XOXO” design over that any day.
What’s the consensus on the cooling capabilities of the trash can Mac Pro, which had a similar design?
On a related note, it looks like the Mac Master Race might start soon (base model $5.000 as per Apple tradition): https://wccftech.com/apple-gaming-mac-launch-2020-rumor/
January 27, 2020 at 3:06 pm #18862I’d like to thank Microsoft and Sony for taking my design suggestions for the XboX Serious X and the PS5 shown above. Smashing!
January 27, 2020 at 10:18 pm #19149I already have my Xbox One S, so I don’t really need or want a Series X. I wonder if most games that come out for the Series X will be compatible with the One S.
I’ve avoided paying for Gold for the entire time I’ve had my Xbox One S, and I will continue to do so if no new games are going to be compatible with the One S. I’m not ready for my current console to be obsolete. Just not yet…
January 28, 2020 at 12:20 am #19395I think ‘Xbox Series X’ is a dumb name yeah MS had a history of terrible names for products like MS Bob? also the design, I like how MS is going for a different design instead of just a rectangular prism. But I hope MS is not going to screw up with this new console.

January 29, 2020 at 4:00 am #20749I’d say it looks pretty Xsy (XboX series X).
