May 15, 2021 at 9:00 am #48668Huawei’s own Kirin 990 processor powers the Huawei Qingyun L410 laptop
Huawei, is still a major manufacturer even after its significant decline in the market share after its sore business relations with the United States.
Now, in a decision to move away from Microsoft/Google for its Laptops, Huawei has launched an ARM-based laptop that runs on Linux, with a catch (find out as you read on)
It packs in 8 GB of RAM and offers up to 512 GB storage
As part of a government initiative in China to move away from big foreign tech giants the laptop comes pre-installed with Unity OS, which is a Deepin-based Linux distribution.
So now you will get advertising from Ali Express direct instead of Amazon. Not to mention that if you live in the West China gets to sell your personal information to the NSA, CIA, ASIC, MI5 like they did with tea back in the 19th Century whereas you are giving it for free on MS, Android or Mac OS.
I might buy one myself and just post tons of CCP propaganda and poo poo the West as a ruse to win social credit points so if I ever go there they will roll out the red carpet while at the same time running an Apple Mac to poo poo Russia and go with a ton of woke propaganda to win the soon to be social credit points in the West.
May 15, 2021 at 10:26 am #48669If you go Linux, I recommend loading 18.04 Bionic Beaver from a startup stick. Then upgrade to 21.04 when notified later. For the first time in history it had boot issues as of 19.04 onward if installing from a startup stick. I think big tech is getting involved and butt F*#king things.
https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#1-overview
I have two laptops, one with dust and spider webs on and Windows 10 and another with food splatter all over it with Ubuntu. You can have a duel boot laptop between Windows and Ubuntu but I would hope that the startup stick installs the linux GNU GRUB which gives you a Windows or Ubuntu option at startup. I don’t trust Windows.
My fav apps for my sole trader biz on linux:
Libreoffice
pdf arranger
Shotcut
Tons more, everything free.
GIMP
