Does anyone have any experience fighting copyright claims on YouTube videos? I make parodies and my latest one has been claimed by BMG Rights Management (they actually own the song to be fair) and I disputed it on my test upload and they still ‘believe their claim is valid’ despite my video following fair use (as a parody). Does anyone know how to fight this? I emailed info@bmg.com today so they might get back to me on that. Wonder if SAM has to fight these and if so how.
As long as it is actually under fair use you should be able to remove the claim.
Because parodies and remixes are fair use.

I disputed the claim on the test video and they kept the claim. I am not a YouTube Partner so I usually don’t have an email for them, however, I have an Official Artist Channel meaning I can email artist-support@youtube.com. I emailed them about copyright and they said there is nothing they can do to help except just tell me to dispute again and risk getting a strike on my channel

email the people and negotiant with them.
If they don’t, email them saying what they are doing is against the law
But the problem is that they don’t really care, they know it’s against the law but i doubt eddie is going to court to them.

Hey EddiesTech, if it is just a copyright claim, and not a strike, then I would just leave it be in your case. Because if you’re not a YouTube partner, then you’re not losing out on any income, and the claim shouldn’t affect the performance of your video.
As BMG upheld the claim, the only further action you could take would be to file a counter-notification, which would force BMG to either withdraw the claim or file a lawsuit against you. Which could get very serious and very costly.
I would only go that far if the video I made was going viral, I was certain it fell under fair-use, and I felt ready to go to court over it.
