We had a dark mode trial period a while ago. See here. The website went back to the light theme because

the tweaks needed to fully optimise [dark mode were] a little too involved.

It might be back in the future though.

We already tried that and it failed miserably.

If you still want dark mode however, you can use the Dark Reader extension on Chrome. It automatically turns websites to dark mode and you can tweak the settings if the extension did a bad job of turning the website to dark mode.

The people that want dark mode have dark mode via some google extension so I think we should just leave it so the people that want it can have it but the people who want light mode can keep it.
