Has anyone been affected by the coppa law on youtube yet who is a fan of samtime?
January 29, 2020 at 2:02 am #20673I think coppa is only affecting YouTubers who are obviously for kids and I think they got to be big enough to be noticed
January 29, 2020 at 2:06 am #20676AnonymousFUNK: 0Rank: Fresh Spider MonkeyWhen YouTube implemented coppa I saw channels with kids content have their features taken away like commenting and recommendations and live chats and other things related to that so maybe their algorithm still looks for little kids and colorful things in YouTube videos. Currently with my youtube I don’t have any little kids in the videos and I don’t have kids content in and I have no kids content alerts or anything from YT but I still feel concerned about the good people who upload good kids content and the people who are falsely being accused of it when they weren’t.
January 29, 2020 at 3:20 am #20724I also saw a lot of music marked for kids (or I just listen to kids music)
January 29, 2020 at 4:40 am #20773Thanks to Coppa I now know my audience was mostly children so my new problem is how do i get more mature viewers
January 29, 2020 at 5:20 am #20789AnonymousFUNK: 0Rank: Fresh Spider Monkey😂what? What type of music are you listening to?
January 29, 2020 at 5:42 am #20804YouTube kept on notifying me so I set mine to “No, this channel as not made for kids…”
I really feel it for the peeps who were making videos for kids and making money before.
What do they do now? They can’t really go patreon. Cuz they can’t ask their viewers to ask their parents to pay them.
Can they?January 29, 2020 at 10:32 pm #21086I know some channels that are more family-friendly that have been marked for kids, which sucks since they’re not making as much money and there’s no way for someone to report a video as not for kids if you didn’t upload it. All you can do is send a tweet to YouTube and hope you have enough followers for YouTube to care.
Also, why can’t you play “Made for Kids” content in the mini-player? That’s stupid IMO.
January 30, 2020 at 1:21 am #21135@PotatoSalad128 with a TWEET??????
That is so weird! you would think they would have the forsight to make a “report this video” etc function.January 30, 2020 at 1:25 am #21138Side note. I was shooting a video last week and my son was there, and he was like “what did you do for COPPA.”
and I was like “COPPA? what’s a COPPA”
even though I already setup my stuff, LOLJanuary 30, 2020 at 8:42 am #21265Company is broken and needs to be updated, it was made in 1998, 22 years ago! Things have changed. I hope they fix cops but knowing the U.S government they could give less of a crud about our wants and needs.
January 30, 2020 at 5:05 pm #21359I once watched a tech video and I couldn’t play it in the mini player.
As @PotatoSalad128 says, why is that restriction even necessary.
January 31, 2020 at 6:30 pm #21666I don’t even care about coppa, it only affects you if you applied for kids.
HOW TO AVOID:
Just swear in your vid
then
just mark not for kids
SIMPLE! as sam would say!
