For me, best game isn’t a game as such but a series of games. Starting back on the BBC Micro (released in 1984) David Braben and Ian Bell released a game called Elite.
After a falling out Braben went on to make Frontier: Elite 2, Frontier: First Encounters and finally still being played and developed today Elite: Dangerous.
In it you start with a small basic space ship and a hand full of money. You can go on to become a bounty hunter, assasin for hire, trader, explorer or any combination of the above. They are just about to add the ability to run your own Mega Ship, basically a space station with engines.
What makes it my fav is the ability to do what you want when you want. One of the first “sand box” games in my opinion. Many people are thrown by the fact that you aren’t guided throughout the entire game, just running down a predetermined path but instead make your own path

April 20, 2020 at 5:32 am #30802The first memory that popped into my brain was of Resident Evil 4. I really liked the movies and, about 10 years ago, I thought I’d give the games a try as well.
I was a total noob though (and not just an average noob as I am now), so when I got to the village where the infected (Ganados) ambush you, I ran straight to the bell tower in the centre, and did not climb down for a good 10 minutes in real-time.
Coincidentally and unbeknownst to me, that particular section was timed, and the game proceeded to go to a cut scene and remove all the enemies by itself. That’s when I knew I would be able to finish it. To this day, it’s the only game that I completed 100%, mini-games and all difficulty levels. The first playthrough took me 50 hours though 😅.

April 23, 2020 at 1:54 am #31050Due to its high levels of FUNK, this topic is now FEATURED! Does anyone else have precious gaming memories they’d like to share?
April 23, 2020 at 2:34 am #31070Playing portal 2 on the xbox 360 was beyond amazing.
April 23, 2020 at 11:32 am #31107One of the most hilarious moments in gaming for me was when I was playing New Super Mario Bros Wii U (heck of name,), with my brother.
I was about to fall down a hole when my bro instinctively stuck Yoshi’s tongue (that he was riding), and saved me from falling. We didn’t even know it was possible. But the speed and surprise of the rescue mission was so funny XD
April 30, 2020 at 9:38 am #31652Probably my most nostalgic memories are of me playing Toy Story 3 for PS3. I spent 7 years playing and customizing my town in the Toy Box mode. I didn’t even finish the Story mode until the end of last year.
