One of my favourite famous stories is that someone tried to scan a sheet of paper by holding it against the computer screen. No idea if it’s true. (It’s probably true, and it probably happened to more than one person.)
One thing that happened to me personally, but it’s less spectacular: I had a long email exchange with someone who insisted a Word document was not password-protected, although it obviously was. She suggested that I reboot the computer in order to be able to edit it.
