This /e/ OS (formerly called Eelo) is a privacy-focused version of Android, with all Google elements removed. Very interesting possible alternative to regular Android, and even Linux. Especially now that Apple and Google are joining forces in new and possibly even more invasive ventures, like contact tracing.
Looks like it might be easier for less savvy people to adopt /e/ OS in the future.
This is one major advantage of Android being open source. It could never be done with iOS unfortunately, and I prefer iOS to Android because of the simplicity and aesthetics. A “de-Appled/un-Appled” iOS would be a dream.
