One of the books I hate is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Incredibly shallow story and unlikeable characters. If the Kardashians lived in the 19th century they would probably write prose like this.
Not even the addition of zombies in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies could save it for me, it was still TOO MUCH JANE AUSTEN. I don’t understand why everyone praises her style of humour or her plots. I just don’t get it, I couldn’t relate to a single sentence in the whole novel, and I didn’t as much as crack a smile. Reading it was exhausting, frustrating and occasionally infuriating.
I think Mark Twain summarised my reaction better than I ever could:
“Every time I read ‘Pride and Prejudice’ I want to dig [Jane Austen] up and beat her over the skull with her own shin-bone.”
P.S. Apologies to any Jane Austen fans who read this.
